HitProfs uses lots of resources for information. That is the only way to keep up with the pace of the search engine industry and even stay ahead of it. Some of these resources could also be interesting for our visitors. New! Check out our recommended books section.

We name a few websites:

'SEO University' is beyond doubt WebmasterWorld, a website that mostly consists of about forty five topical forums where SEO-professionals and webmasters keep each other posted in the latest developments in the search engine industry. This huge site with its many participants can be rather overwhelming. You have been warned!

A more accessible site with independent information is SearchengineWatch. SearchengineWatch also organises the Search Engine Strategies Conference & Expo, a series of lectures organised all over the world. The site is run by Danny Sullivan, SEO pioneer and speaker at many conferences.

Another independent site with much 'howto'-information is the Norwegian Pandia, run by the couple Per and Susanne Koch. Pandia is well known for it's annual 'Pandia Awards' and is probably the best allround site about search engines and search engine optimisation.

'Why does HitProfs point to sites where webmasters can learn the tricks of the search engine trade themselves?' That's a question easily answered. HitProfs assists many webmasters with developing search engine friendly websites. Good basic knowledge of optimisation techniques on the clients side can be very helpful. HitProfs knows how fast search engine details change and how time consuming it is to stay up-to-date. Most webmasters simply don't have enough time for that and are far better off when hiring a specialist. But anyone who really wants to start with DIY: enjoy!
